Robert is the founding partner of LEGIS and Partners Ltd. He acquired international experience in major infrastructure projects within a leading international French law firm, where he held office as associate within the project finance team for 3 years during which he intervened primarily in public private partnership and particularly in infrastructure projects (power, water, sanitation, telecommunications and transport) in African countries.

Since based in Mauritius, Robert has advised major investors in Mauritius and the region, in relation to foreign direct investments, mergers and acquisitions transactions and a range of corporate transactions. He has led many legal and corporate due diligence in Mauritius and in African countries and assisted foreign investors and local companies in setting up appropriate local entities. He has notably been assisting major international groups in assessing and managing legal risks in relation to investments in Mauritius and the region and in drafting related contractual documentation besides continuing his practice as counsel in project finance.

He regularly advises leading international promoters on investments in real estate (hotels and luxury residential complex (Integrated Resort Schemes, Real Estate Schemes, PDS). Robert’s involvement on these projects included providing assistance on the whole set up of these operations (securing of land, identification and following up of all administrative authorisations (with governmental institutions, including ministries and the Economic and Development Board (EDB), local authorities, etc.), negotiating and drafting all commercial contracts (reservation contracts, pool rental agreements, construction contracts, operation and maintenance contracts, etc.), bank loans (negotiations of loan agreements and security mechanisms, etc.) and statutory documentation (detailed constitutions, shareholders agreements, etc.).

Robert’s practice includes the preparation and assessment of international tenders’ process and analysing the best public private partnership’s strategies for the projects (water, sanitation, wastewater management, port and airport sector). He drafted and negotiated contracts related to these projects (memorandum of understanding, transfer and acquisition of shares, shareholders agreement, concession or leasing agreement (affermage), licence, power purchase agreement, etc.).

He had led assignments abroad and Mauritius where he advised governments, promoters, international financial institutions and banks.
