Robert FERRAT

Barrister Director

Robert Ferrat is one of the founding partners of LEGIS and Partners.

Working alongside his clients, he has devised and implemented numerous investment, divestment and share or business acquisition strategies. He has carried out numerous risk assessment assignments and negotiated complex contracts, assisting both private and public entities and major international institutions. He regularly advises investment funds with their holding companies in Mauritius on their acquisition or disposal projects in Africa.

Robert gained his international and major project experience with a leading firm based in Paris. In this capacity, it has been involved in public-private partnerships, particularly in the infrastructure sector (energy, water, sanitation, telecommunications and transport) in Africa, and continues to do so in the Africa-Indian Ocean region.

In Mauritius, he has worked with leading investors on strategic partnerships in key sectors (ports and airports). He has also been involved on several occasions in analysing partnership opportunities in the water and sanitation sector for major international financial institutions and leading international operators.   

Robert regularly advises leading international developers on real estate investments (hotels and luxury residential developments (the Integrated Resorts Schemes, Real Estate Schemes, PDS)), banking or industrial. During these projects, Robert provided assistance with the entire set-up of these operations (securing the land, assistance in obtaining administrative authorisations (Ministries, Board of Investment, local authorities, etc.), drafting client contracts (reservation, sale in future state of completion, rental pool agreements, etc.), bank loans (negotiations and security mechanisms, etc.) and statutory documentation (detailed constitutions, shareholders’ agreements, etc.).

 
  

Robert has carried out assignments involving the preparation and evaluation of international tender documents, the development and implementation of sale or acquisition strategies, the drafting of proposals for legislative or regulatory amendments, and the negotiation of contracts relating to these projects (memoranda of understanding, share transfers and acquisitions, shareholders’ agreements, concessions or leases, licences, energy purchase contracts, etc.).

He has advised governments, developers, international financial institutions and banks.
